Five-SeveN Case Hardened is one of the most well known pistol skins in CS2. Like other skins with the Case Hardened finish, its appearance depends on the pattern seed, a number from 1 to 1000 that determines how the texture is applied to the weapon.
Most patterns contain a mix of gold, purple, and blue colors. However, a small number of seeds generate patterns with a large amount of blue. In the CS2 community, these variants are known as Blue Gems.
The visual differences between seeds can be huge. A regular Five-SeveN Case Hardened may cost only a dozen dollars, while the best Blue Gem patterns can be worth hundreds or even over a thousand dollars, depending on the skin’s condition.
What Is a Blue Gem?
Every Five-SeveN Case Hardened uses the same texture, but its placement changes depending on the seed.
Key facts:
- seeds range from 1 to 1000
- only a small number generate patterns with a dominant blue color
- for Five-SeveN, the upper part of the pistol and the slide are the most important areas
- the more clean blue color visible, the higher the collector value
Blue Gem Seed Ranking
The trading community usually divides patterns into several quality tiers.
- Tier 1 (T1) – the best patterns with very large blue coverage. These are the rarest and most valuable Blue Gems.
- Tier 2 (T2) – patterns with a large amount of blue but also visible gold or purple areas.
- Tier 3 (T3) – seeds with smaller blue sections that still look attractive but are not considered top-tier Blue Gems.
Out of the 1000 possible seeds, only a small number qualify as Blue Gems, and only a few of them reach Tier 1 status.

Blue Gem Statistics
- out of 1000 seeds, only a small portion are considered Blue Gems
- less than 10% of patterns have strong blue coverage
- only a few seeds reach Tier 1 status
- the price of the skin depends mainly on the pattern, not just the float
For Case Hardened skins, the pattern seed often matters more than the wear condition, which is why even a Field-Tested Blue Gem can be several times more expensive than a Factory New regular Case Hardened.
