Trade Protection & payout timing

It's a Steam safety feature from Valve. For 7 days after a trade, Steam lets that trade be reversed. Valve added it to fight fraud and account theft.

Because a trade can still be undone during those 7 days, we hold your payout until the period ends. The same 7-day hold applies to every sale, including Rust, Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 items.

You confirm the hold before every sale by ticking "I accept the hold under CS2 Trade Protection". Your price is locked as soon as you accept the trade offer.

7 days, counted from when you accept the trade offer and rounded up to the next full hour.

For example, if you accept the trade at 1:45 PM on a Monday, the hold ends at 2:00 PM the following Monday. You can see the exact time in the Payout date column on your My transactions page.

Because CS2 Trade Protection lets a trade be reversed on Steam for 7 days. Valve made that rule, not us.

Until those 7 days are over, the items you traded to us could still be pulled back, so we pay once the trade is final.

No. The 7-day hold can't be skipped or shortened, and no payout method or account setting changes that.

Your price is locked the moment you accept the trade offer, though, so if the item's market price drops during the hold, you still get the amount you agreed to.

After the 7-day hold ends. The Payout date of your sale shows the exact time.

Most payouts are sent automatically when the hold is over. Bank transfers and Skrill are sent by hand, so they can take longer. Our Terms of Service say payouts normally start within 3 business days after the hold ends and any checks are done.

When the money is on its way, the status changes to Payout sent. After that, how fast it arrives is up to your bank or payment provider.

Open My trades from your profile menu. On the My transactions page, the Payout date column shows when the hold on each sale ends.

Right after a sale, the confirmation screen also shows it under Time until your payout, as "Payout expected on" followed by the date.

While the hold is running, the status of the sale is Trade Protection.

No. The price is fixed when you accept the trade offer. Market moves during the 7 days don't change it, up or down.

The only exception is a clear pricing error, where the quote was far above or far below the item's real market value. Our Terms of Service explain how those are handled.

The sale is cancelled. We detect the reversal, the status changes to Reversed and no payout is sent.

Steam also restricts trading on your account after a reversal, typically for 30 days. That restriction comes from Valve, and we can't lift it. The bonus level EXP you got for that sale is removed as well.

If you reversed a trade because you think your Steam account was compromised, secure your account first, then write to us in the live chat.
